How often have you heard-or used-the expression, "Well, variety is the spice of life!"? Fifty APNQ members from all over the region were invited to create, in fabric, their interpretation of this often-used expression for what gives meaning, joy or excitement to life. Their creations have become APNQ's sixth invitational traveling exhibit, which made its debut at Quiltfest 2006.
APNQ's traveling exhibits serve as both fundraisers for the organization and a realization of our mission-to promote the art of quiltmaking in our region and beyond. Since their inception in 1996, these inspired collections have traveled the country and, through the generosity of the quiltmakers who donated their works, have earned more than $105,000 at auction.
Curator for the Spice collection is Sharyn Cole, who also is arranging the itinerary for the exhibit as it travels the country, appearing at major shows and museums. Spice will return to Seattle for Quiltfest 2008, where it will be auctioned to benefit APNQ. Absentee bid forms are available here (pdf), from our office in advance, or at the APNQ office at the Quiltfest.
